John D. Hansen, Esq.

Partner John Hansen assists community associations and their boards of directors in the management of their common interest development subdivisions. He provides assistance in day-to-day operational and general corporate matters, including the interpretation and enforcement of the restrictive covenants which apply to these communities. Mr. Hansen also assists community associations in litigation. His litigation background includes representing homeowner and condominium associations in all facets of litigation including covenants, conditions, and restrictions (CC&Rs) enforcement, obtaining and enforcing judgments, advising in bankruptcy matters, contract disputes, Department of Fair Employment and Housing complaints, and defending associations against homeowner-filed lawsuits.

Mr. Hansen is actively involved in the community association industry, including authoring numerous articles published in industry periodicals and law journals. Mr. Hansen currently serves on the Board of Directors for the California North Chapter of the Community Association Institute, and is the 2021 Chapter President. Mr. Hansen regularly speaks at seminars throughout California regarding various topics concerning community associations. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law graduating with distinction, and Bachelors in Political Science from University of California, Santa Barbara. While in law school, Mr. Hansen was a judicial extern for District Judge Morrison C. England in the Eastern District of California. Before coming to Baydaline & Jacobsen, Mr. Hansen was a Deputy District Attorney for the County of Sacramento. He is admitted to the California State Bar, as well as the Eastern, Central and Northern District Courts.
